Let me walk with you...I can help!
Looking for some peace with food, your body, or experiences in your past?
Are you living with the effects of hard life experiences?
Our brains wear "history colored glasses." And hard experiences teach hard things--about ourselves, relationships, and what to expect in this world. Sometimes those learnings are no longer helping like they once did. This is what trauma work is all about-- not about reliving the bad things that happened!
Does kindness to yourself feel wrong or out of reach?
Some people are worried that compassion for themselves will make them weak or lazy. But self-compassion is not about being "too nice" to ourselves or letting ourselves get by with bad behavior. Compassion is a skill that can be learned! Suprisingly, it is often key to making the changes we long for.
Are you tired of living under Diet Culture's rules?
What if our bodies are not projects to be managed, but living beings that are worthy just as they are? If idea this sounds appealing but too good or scary to be true, you might be ready to explore Body Trust,®a different way of relating with your body. Letting go of trying to earn your dream body is not easy. But after the grief of letting go of false promises there is so much more room for joy and freedom!
Do you struggle with disordered eating or an eating disorder?
If you do, you know "IT'S COMPLICATED!" Loved ones may see your eating disorder only as an enemy. But you know it has gotten you through a lot . Granted, the cost to you may have been pretty high. The good news is that recovery is possible, and it does not require getting rid of or hating any part of you!
My Approach

My clients have taught me that authenticity, flexibility, and creativity are essential for growth and change. Every one of us is an unique expression of being human. That’s why my approach doesn’t follow a formula. I am an integrative therapist, which means I draw on various methods and trainings to meet you right where you are, right now..I draw from models which are grounded in the most recent understandings of neurobiology.
I am also an experiential therapist. Instead of always talking about your concerns or feelings, we will sometimes do things in session. We might do EMDR or the Safe and Sound Protocol. We might do parts work. We might notice a sensation in your body and ask it a question. We will listen to and learn from all the parts of your nervous system, not just the "figure it out" part we all know so well.
If you are experiencing disordered eating, substance misuse, or self harm, you should know that I do not use behavior contracts. I don't find them helpful. We will get farther by listening with kindness and curiosity to learn how these hard behaviors serve you than by me trying to force you into change. As my mentor says, "There is no room for coersion in healing.
